Award-winning democracy series
The American Promise is an award-winning documentary that presents over four hours of programming with accompanying lesson plans. Each of the nine episodes addresses one of the nine challenges of democracy, in vignettes that feature diverse and surprising heroes. It originally aired on PBS and has been endorsed by the National Council for Social Studies. Now in an estimated 200,000 classrooms, viewed by some 4 million students year, The American Promise program is available for all grade levels.
